Course Objectives: This course’s objectives are; 1. To explain the definition and the content of the concept of patient’s rights, 2. To set forth the protection of patients’ rights in the light of national and international law, 3. To examine patient’s right to self determination in a comparative perspective vis-a-vis growing medical possibilities and advancing treatment and drug options.
Course Contents: -Explanation of the evolution, definition and the content of patients’ rights, - Examination of patients’ right to self determination, informed consent, patients’ right to private life, - Evaluation of the rights (right to life, right to private life and the concept of human dignity) related to the patient’s right to self determination.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- To get knowledge about the right to health and the patient’s rights,
  • 2- To get knowledge about the physician and patient relations,
  • 3- To get knowledge about the patients’ rights in a theoretical and practical level,
  • 4- To possess legal thinking ability on the patient’s self determination right.
