| Course Objectives: | The goals of the course are to define and critically investigate globalization from various angles, introduce relevant theoretical backgrounds on major themes on globalization, zoom into case studies to better engage with the theory, and encourage students to undertake their own research in the field. |
| Course Contents: | The course focuses on key themes and discussions that are related to globalization process. The discussions include definitions of globalization; varieties-of-capitalism in a globalized world; state, market, and development; discontents about globalization in both developed and developing world; and technological nationalism/globalism. |

| Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods: | Students are expected to do mandatory readings before coming to classes. The lectures are student-oriented –although the instructor has a ‘road map’ and provides a background, students are expected to contribute and generate thought-providing ideas and questions. |
