A holistic perspective on the subject is included and this requires an overview of IT availability and continuity along with disaster recovery at various levels including management, operations, architectural, and infrastructure. Solutions as part of disaster recovery include metro cluster, fast restore, disk mirroring, matching configuration changes.
Course Contents: Elementry concepts covering business, IS and IT from disaster recovery point of view, System and outage categorization, high availability,SLA, leyered solution with multiple precautions, architecture, system design taking into account redundancy and replication, hardware issues, operating systems related disastar issues, disaster recovery solutions, tests, failover to disaster-recovery site.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- Ability to conceptually understand the scope of IT disaster from a holistic point of view.
  • 2- Ability to assess the impacts of disaster at different managerial, operational levels.
  • 3- Ability to carry out reliability calculations and statistics in a disaster
  • 4- Ability to determine and apply appropriate disaster recovery solutions.
