Course Objectives: 1. Understanding international human rights protection system, 2. Ponder upon the further promotion and protection of human rights, 3. Assist students’ carreer advancement in the field of implementation of international human rights law in national jurisdiction.
Course Contents: The meaning and history of human rights, Human Rights Theory, International Human Rights Monitoring Systems, How to Prepare Applications to European Court of Human Rights, Precedents of the European Court of Human Rights, prohibition of discrimination, right to equality, freedom of expression, freedom association, religious freedoms, electoral rights, minority rights, Human Rights in the EU
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- 1. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the legal rules and precedents associated with International Human Rights Law
  • 2- 2. Ability to apply international human rights norms in domestic law
  • 3- 3. Demonstrate an ability to prepare a case to the European Court of Human Rights,
  • 4- 4. Reflect critically upon the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights on certain legal issues
  • 5- 5. Critically assess the application of human rights norms in times of emergency,
  • 6- 6. Acquire a human rights sensitive approach to law,
  • 7- 7. Find relevant information on human rights law from a range of printed and electronic sources
