Course Objectives: This course aims to provide students with skills and knowledge to identify basic concepts, techniques, analysis methods and management functions for geographic management systems in various context.
Course Contents: Representing geography, nature of geographic data, geographic data modeling, GIS data collection, geographic databases, cartography and map production, spatial data analysis
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- GIS technology basics
  • 2- Explaining the physical and functional components of GIS
  • 3- Introduction to the concepts of Geographic Coordinate Systems and Map Projections
  • 4- Explanation of data management and spatial data models (vector and raster)
  • 5- Integrated analysis techniques and concepts of graphical and attribute data
  • 6- Introduction to the concept of spatial modeling
