Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to deal with art as knowledge production and the experience field for producing creative ideas and learning with use and awareness of opportunity for visual thinking, expressing opinion, visual perception, research possibilites, and imaginative thinking with artistic tools. Contemporary art offers multiple ways of thinking and ensures personal and collective sensibilities of students. Art serves as a significant resource that extends students’ visual, bodily, and sensual capacity and ability and to indicate possible ways of expressing herself /hisself through practice.
Course Contents: Course contents deal with issues of seeing and the art practice of interpretation,self-portrait and persona,identity,power and art,cultural differences, and gender issues in contemporary art.Those issues must be tackled in the studio where theory and practice are mingled properly in with art’s resources and possibilities and visual language.Thus Students would develop their ideas gradually and transform their idea into an object, research files, performance, photograph, video, mock-up, archive research, practice in public domain, and in -suti works.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- to gain consciousness and sensibility of the responsibility both to be an individual and social presence
  • 2- to accomplish the tackling of issues and analyze them in a different way.
  • 3- to discover their talents
  • 4- to develop original ideas
Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods: -Lecture supported by images -Discussion -Presentation in any form such as performative reading,performance,performative lectures and video film. - museums and exhibitions visits -searching in public space -visit to an artist studio - collaboration with other fields such as sociology, philosophy,literature,science etc. -Project of any sort which are related to issues involving any media this can include creative writing and drawings as well as cross-disciplinary forms-graphic novel,performance,sound piece,digital piece, and in a broader sense new media
