Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to introduce the students to the certain movements, artisans and their works of our country's theatre which has been institutionalised after the founding of the Republic and even though it adopted the style of western theatre, it managed to create an independent form in itself through this period.
Course Contents: In this course, the general tendencies and breaking points of theatre in Turkey after the founding of the Republic will be focused through the reading of the texts.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- To gain historical perspective and become intellectually well-equipped in a way that would nurture the creative process.
  • 2- To improve the ability to read, perceive, evaluate and interpret.
  • 3- To gain the skill to read the relation between art and ideology.
  • 4- To prepare for the grasping of inner and outer dynamics of a work of art.
  • 5- To become acquainted with the methods and rules of scientific research.
Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods: Reading and dramaturgical analysis of the works which form the Turkish theatre repertoire in regard with sociological and historical accounts.
