Course Objectives: The aim of this class is to provide the necessary information for: 1) understanding of issues involved in dating, marriage and family life. 2) An awareness of own as well as others` attitudes and values about dating, marriage and family life. 3) An awareness of the social, cultural, and economic influences on family formation and life 4) Developing critical thinking skills around issues important to dating, marriage and family life.
Course Contents: This course is designed to introduce students to the scientific study and understanding of family life, while providing you with opportunities and a safe environment to examine your attitudes and values regarding relationships and families. The class will be designed to incorporate various learning styles including lectures, films, small group exercises, and class discussions to facilitate your active participation in learning.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- To be able to know, explain and interpret the theoretical background of relationship and family dynamics
  • 2- Have an enhanced awareness of social, cultural and individual differences and know how to operate in diverse settings
