Course Objectives: The students are expected to:
-Produce typographic compositions, using advanced processing functions and layout softwareConceptualize assignments into visuals
-Analyze standards of the printing and design industries
-Focus on best typography practices for design and production
Course Contents: The class has 3 individual projects that progress in complexity. In class, students engage in short readings and discussion, research, and critiques.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- Understand and execute concepts through typography
  • 2- Improve typography, layout, sequencing, pagination and image/text relationships
  • 3- Organize large quantities of text into meaningful communications
  • 4- Use advanced software for typography design
  • 5- Use typographical production best practices
Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods: The course consists of 3 basic modules. These are:
-Production I
-Production II
-Product to Market

Modules often start with an experiment that reveals the necessity of the concept that will be analyzed within the module. Students later are asked to present their observations and do small projects related to the concept to be able to interiorize the knowledge.
