Course Objectives: 1. To describe the theoretical approaches and methods used in comparative political systems. 2. To define the main political characteristics of the countries belonging to these categories by grouping the different political systems as democracies, ex-communist countries and developing countries. 3. To compare states in terms of their historical development, political culture, political participation, state institutions and forms of government. 4. To raise awareness of the pluralism of political systems in the world.
Course Contents: Course Contents Comparative political systems course comparatively examines the similarities and differences in the internal political structures, institutions and processes of states. In doing so, it teaches students how to use methodological and conceptual tools.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- Learn the basic concepts of political science and comparative political systems sub-discipline.
  • 2- • Explain the connections between political processes, relations and events.
  • 3- • Will be able to compare data, concepts, theories and states.
  • 4- • Become aware of different models of democracy and understand the shortcomings of these models and the context in which they developed
  • 5- They will learn about the different evolutions of democratic institutions in Europe, America, Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.
