Course Objectives: This course aims to introduce the students the main theoretical and historical approaches/debates American Foreign Policy from the end of the World War I to present. Within this time period it will be explored significant global and regional issues and their implications on American Foreign Policy
Course Contents: The process of determination of American foreign policy and its evaluation throughout the history. The importance of individuals, institutions, and public opinion in the past and current World politics.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- To acquire knowledge and understanding of American foreign policy making process.
  • 2- Analyze the strategic importance of United Staes
  • 3- To be able to make basic chronological, political, economic and cultural connections between all parties involved throughout the American policy making
  • 4- Understand the 2016 presidential elections’ implications on present and future situation of the American politics
Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods: Students are expected to read the required texts and prepare for each class; the class will convene in two hour lecture, and one hour class discussion format.
