Course Objectives: The students are expected to:
• Learn to produce multimedia productions including news, factual, entertainment contents using different production techniques.
• Work in groups by the guidance of the instructor and develop multi forms media productions each week.
• Use different media production tools both software and hardware such as different types of cameras, sound recording equipment, etc.
• Learn to use and create textures in different forms of multimedia products.
• Learn to produce and use different types of audio visual sources for multimedia production.
• Learn to converge conventional forms of audio visual contents with digital ones for multimedia hands on works.
Course Contents: This course provides students with necessary knowledge to produce news content, shot documentaries, reality contents both factual and fictional for digital media. The students will learn to tell a story through multiple types of digital tools while in the same practicing to work in groups under the guidance of instructor and fulfill their responsibilities in group work. They will learn to manage and promote their works on different platforms as well such as internet, TV, digital broadcasting, social media, websites and blogs.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- Ability to understand the basics and fundamentals of thinking and creating multimedia productions with groups.
  • 2- Ability to develop skills of writing for different forms of media
  • 3- Ability to develop skills of working with audio visual contents and formulating different types of media projects in real-time
  • 4- Ability to develop skills of using different types of hardware to produce audio visual content and different types of software in order to make different versions of media products with the same sources
  • 5- Ability to raise awareness about the strength of a multimedia production on different platforms of media after a good plan of promotion and distribution
Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods: The course consists of 3 modules. These are: 1. Concepts, Skillsets Writing and research 2. News and facts 3. Practice Multimedia Storytelling The assessment is divided into three modules. Modules often start with an introduction that reveals the necessity of the concept that will be analyzed within the module. Students later are asked to present their observations and do small projects related to the concept to be able to interiorize the knowledge. The projects are graded 70%. The rest of the overall grade, 30% will come from the ability to do group work, attendance and contribution to the class.
