Course Objectives: The students are expected to:
• Develop an understanding of the different aspects of production management
• Grasp the current issues in global and local film industries
• Learn the methods for developing a project
• Know terms of production
• Read the finance plan of feature film production
• Pitch a project to a producer
• Discuss marketing strategies for different films
Course Contents: The course aims to explore the importance of the production in film, television and new media projects. Particular attention will be paid to production planning, budgeting, scheduling and distribution.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit (LO):
  • 1- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of different aspects of production management and current issues in global and local film industries
  • 2- Ability to create work plans for production teams
  • 3- Ability to build a finance plan
  • 4- Ability to develop a marketing strategy
  • 5- Ability to pitch a project to a producer
Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods: The classes will consist of lectures and discussions. After the introductory first two weeks, the students will start preparing their final projects, which will be presented to a jury of industry experts at the end of the term. Each week will cover different aspects of the topic to add onto the students’ ongoing projects. Additionally, there will be a midterm to test the students’ understanding of the concepts, and three assignments as exercises to assist in the implementation of the final project.
